How We Broadcast
Why AAC+?
We decided to use the AAC+ Ver. 2 format becuase it offers near-CD-quality audio at very low bitrates (such as 48 kbps and 64 kbps), while the MP3 format still sounds like lossy FM-quality at 128 kbps and even 160 kbps. We currently operate at 48 kbps, measured at 44,100 Hz (44.1 MHz) in Parametric Stereo format. Since AAC+ has such a high fidelity, it only needs to go up to 128 kbps in Parametric Stereo format. Another primary reason for using AAC+ is that since it sounds so good at such low bitrates, we can have many listeners on the stream at the same time, without using as much bandwidth on our server's network connections as would otherwise be necessary, as well as allow people on slower connections such as 56K dial-up to listen. Our Broadcast Schedule
If you want to see our schedule, it is located here. How to Listen
Our Web Applet
If you wish to listen live via your browser, you can use one of our TWO web applets, listed below:SecondLife
In SecondLife, we have a direct broadcast from our MP3 feed into the EM Burrow in Pacific Waters (secondlife://Pacific%20Waters/125/70/21/), owned by ErikMouse.Shoutcast.com
If you wish to listen to us via Shoutcast.com, you can do so at:Microsoft Windows
Our feed works best with Winamp and VLC Player, and our feed can be listened to live by going to the Winamp menu → Play → URL, and typing in radio.mobianlegends.com:8004. Windows Media Player and VLC Player users can type in icyx://67.205.96.238:8004 or radio.mobianlegends.com:8004. Real Player users will be able to also access the Shoutcast DNAS status page at radio.mobianlegends.com:8004, and listen directly to our feed at radio.mobianlegends.com:8004.Mac OS X, Linux and UNIX
Linux/UNIX/BSD/BeOS, and Apple Mac OS X users can access our streams the same way as Windows Media Player users, using VLC Media Player instead.Sony PlayStation Portable
The Sony PSP is a marvellous piece of hardware that can do fantastic things. The coders that have made homebrew programs are equally talented and fantastic, and have even been able to write a program for UNMODDED PSPs so they can tune to CUSTOM web streams! I will show you how to tune in to VOM-FM on your PSP (wireless internet access point is needed). The readme included within the FreeRadio zip file tells you exactly how you can add your OWN streams to the program to listen in to radio.mobianlegends.com.- Step 1, go to http://dl.qj.net/FreeRadio-v1.4/pg/49/fid/15677/catid/140 to download FreeRadio. If that link fails, get it here.
- Step 2, extract the files to your MS PRO Duo memory card. FreeRadio.prs should go in the folder /PSP/RADIOPLAYER/ (in Microsoft Windows, it will look something like driveletter:PSPRADIOPLAYER).
- Step 3, create a new folder on the memory card (in the same area that "psp" "music" and "videos" are), named "radio".
- Step 4, extract the remainder of the files to "radio"
- Step 5, go into /radio/personalize/ and edit the "MyShoutcast.js" file with any text editor (Notepad, Notepad++, and others will do perfectly) to include your file. At the beginning of the listings, (just below "var shoutcast_stations = new Array(") add this line: '888133','CFWO-FM - Windsor& apos; Classic Rock Station', (including the comma, or it won't work!). Please also eliminate the space between & and apos;, for the name.
- Step 5.5, if you want the stream to also appear in your "Raw Streams" category, edit the "MyStreams.js" file, and scroll down to just below the line that says "var pls = new Array(". Add the following line: 'http://cfwo.mobianlegends.com:8004/listen.pls','CFWO-FM - Windsor& apos;s Classic Rock Station'. Please also eliminate the space between & and apos;, for the name.
- Step 6, open FreeRadio in your PSP (under Network → Internet Radio), and select your feed to listen to.
- Step 7, enjoy your music! :)
Standalone Applications

- RealPlayer (or Helix Player)
- XMMS (or XMMS2, or Audacious Media Player, all Linux-Only)
- Winamp (Windows-Only)
- VLC Player
- Apple QuickTime
